Cell Phone Stun Guns are Designed to Fool Attackers
Cell phone stun guns, like most other types of stun guns, including stun
batons, come in a variety of shapes and sizes. But one they have in common is that they will fool an attacker into
thinking that they look like a cell phone, which gives you the advantageous element of surprise.
One of the reasons that many people don’t like carrying lethal weapons – like real guns or knives – is that if
they are overpowered by an attacker, the gun (or knife) might be used on them. Unfortunately this does happen and
victims get badly injured, sometimes fatally. So there are three good reasons to use cell phone stun guns:
- These self defense weapons are non-lethal.
- The size of any other mini stun gun, they won’t be identified as a
personal self defense device.
- A cell phone stun gun offers one of the best types of personal self defense possible.
Cell phone stun guns operate exactly the same way as any other
type of small stun gun. They are an electrically charged device that has two
prongs at one end. When the safety catch is released, and you press the ‘phone’ against an assailant and pull
the trigger, the person you have targeted will literally get the shock of their lives! Remember this is a form
of non-lethal self defense, so the attacker won’t be permanently harmed, but the effect can be
quite dramatic. Generally a stun gun of any sort will cause a person to fall to the ground with muscle spasm
that renders them pretty useless for a while. Repeat the prod and the effects will last even longer.
The voltage that cell phone stun guns deliver depends on the type and model. Generally they are quite powerful –
anything from 800,000 to nearly three million volts. Some come with a flashlight incorporated in the design, which
can be very useful at night. A flashlight can also be used to temporarily blind an attacker. Others come with a
high decibel siren as well, enabling you to literally sound the alarm.
While the buttons on the front of a cell phone-style stun gun look just like those on a real cell phone (or
pretty damn close), you will see that the buttons that matter are labeled ‘light’ (if there is one) and ‘stun’.
Even though you may not opt for personal protection training when you buy some sort of stun gun, do read the manufacturer’s
instructions clearly, and make sure you know how it works. Don’t be tempted to try it out on a person though.
That simply wouldn’t be right!
If you aren’t convinced that a stun gun is what you need for your personal protection safety then have a look at
some of the other personal security products on the market. These include a wide range of different types of
personal safety alarms as well as many different types of pepper spray gun and Mace products.
